Energy Awareness Month

Sustainability, Pumpkin Spice, and Everything Nice

It’s October, fall is in the air and everything has officially been pumpkin spiced. Besides pumpkin spice awareness, October hosts another awareness campaign. October is officially Energy Awareness Month. Although, every month is Energy Awareness Month here at America’s Original Solar Company®, we are doing something a little extra this month. RGS Energy is attending and exhibiting at the Sustainability Expo 2017 with the Solar Decathlon in Denver, Colorado.

Solar Decatho-what?

The Solar Decathlon is a sustainability home competition put on by the Department of Energy, about every 2 years. High school and college students form teams and display their sustainability homes on site, complete with renewable energy systems, gardens, and architectural efficiency designs.

We have a booth at the Sustainability Expo close to the homes which will open again this Thursday. From October 12th – 15th attendees can come draw inspiration from the Decathlon and learn more about energy efficiency for their home, including solutions like a home solar system.

Come visit us! We’ll have our authoritative guide to sustainable living, the Solar Living Sourcebook, to give away. Plus, 8 lucky attendees will receive an inflatable solar powered lantern! So, grab your pumpkin spice latte, come visit us at the Sustainability Expo / Solar Decathlon and be inspired to make your home as energy efficient as possible.

We challenge you to celebrate Energy Awareness Month

Here are some steps you can take today:

Switch to clean, renewable, and affordable solar power with RGS Energy

Perform an energy audit to determine ways your home could be more energy efficient

Use LED light-bulbs and turn off lights when not in use

Unplug your electronics when not in use to avoid “leaking power”, also called “vampire power”.
